1. Simple Past Tense
Digunakan menyatakan kegiatan lampau pada waktu tertentu

Rumusnya
(+) S + V2
(-) S+did+not+V1
(?)Did+S+V1?

Contoh Simple Past Tense

• I walked to school yesterday
• She bought a new car 3 days ago
• He called me last night

2. Past Continous Tense

Kegiatan sedang terjadi ketika kegiatan lain terjadi

Rumusnya

(+) S + Was, Were + V-ing -- When -> S + V2

                          atau

(+) S + Was, Were + V-ing -- When -> S + was/were + V1+ ing

                           atau

(+) S + Was, Were + V-ing -- While -> S + was/were + V1+ ing

Contoh Past Continous Tense

• I was walking when It began to rain

3. Past Perfect Tense

Digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan pertama telah selesai sebelum kegiatan kedua terjadi

Rumusnya

(+) S+had+V2/been

(-) S+had+not+V3/been

(?) had + S + V3 / been

Contoh Past Perfect Tense

• My parents had already gone to bed by the time i got home.
• Sam had left before we got there,
• After the quest had left, I went to bed.

4. Past Perfect Continous Tense

Sama dengan past perfect continous hanya ada penekanan waktu saat kejadian

Rumusnya

(+) S+had+been+V1+ing

(-) S+had+not+been+V1+ing

(?) Had + S + had been + V1 +ing

Contoh Past Perfect Continous Tense

• The police had been looking for the criminal for 2 years before they caught him.
• He finally came at 6 o'clock. I had been waiting for him since 4 o'clock.
